What do you mean? Except for the fact that the Windows Nvidia drivers perform better on Windows than on Linux, I've never seen a game, scratch that, ANYTHING bring a Linux box to it knees, with the exception of bad hardware.

Maybe you could give me an example? Confused

OK correct me if I am wrong as I have never used Linux but isn't it true that most new 3d games wont even run on Linux? I know lots of people that are forced to dual boot because they cant play their games in Linux and have to use Windows to play them

If the developer makes a native Linux client, than no, you don't have to reboot. Several games have native Linux clients, including all the Unreal Tournament games, Quake3, Postal 2, etc. It's rumored that Doom3 will have a native linux port (/me keeps fingers crossed).

The second option is to use windows emulation, wine for OpenGL games, and wineX for Direct3D games. Both of these have varying levels of success, and are getting better, but still can't beat a native port to Linux.

And of course, you can always dual boot Windows and Linux, but why would you want to waste HDD space on windows?? Grin

So that I could play ANY game I want when I want. Hey I have nothing against Linux, mostly because I have never used it or pretend to know much about it. I do however know lots of people who use Windows only and can do about anything they want with their computer. Everyone I know that uses Linux either dual boots or has a 2sd computer running Windows to do the things that Linux cant.

Actually be to technically correct... Linux isn't the problem, it's the app's. They aren't building as many for Linux, because the market and the $$ isn't there.... yet??

To port/develop an application for an OS you have to be sure you can sell enough of your product to not only recover your cost, but help fund additional R&D. Big reason that OS/2 didn't survive.

Agreed like I said I am not trying to knock Linux, honestly dont know enough about it to do so even if I wanted to. My only point was that for what ever reason you can do things with Windows that you cant Linux. Maybe there are things you can do with Linux that Windows cant too, I duno. I just wonder if there were as many novice/noob users using Linux as there are using Windows how good Linux would look then. For me XP Pro has been a very good OS. I keep it patched and follow some basic safe computing guidelines and have yet to have a problem with being hacked or a virus infection. It does everything I want it to do and more and has been very stable. I 1st installed it 3 days after it came out and have only had to re install it one time since. In my eyes that is pretty good especially considering all the hardware changes I threw at it. One of these days I'll get around to playing with Linux but right now I just dont feel the need.

Linux isn't just about what you can or can't do, games that do or don't run, blah blah blah. To me, it's more about freedom.
