Did anyone out there have experience to transfer data from a laptop's hard disk please?
My laptop had problme so I bought a external usb enclosure to get access to my data on the hard disk. After I connected to a PC, it just showed me it was a unallocated space on my hard disk. Does it mean my hard disk has problem or my enclosure has problem?
From what I understood you took out the HD from the laptop, placed it on an external enclosure and hooked it up to a PC. Please provide more details...
-did it ever ask you to format the hd @ any moment?
-what file system was installed on the Hard Disk? Windows, Linux?
-brand and model for both the HD and the enclosure?
If the HD was becoming unstable before, it would be my first guess that it went FUBAR... but it also can be a problem with the enclosure, although that's a more distant possibility....

I'd guess the hard drive may have a proprietry format (laptop is a dell/gateway/?/brand X) or that the USB device requires a driver on the drive to see the contents. (again brand and model info would help)
