maybe you guys can help me. i am looking for an online application that i could post projects that i am working on and also allow for outside contractors to post the status of there projects and notes. if there is something cheap out there, i would also like to be able to customize them.

have looked into project, but the server is jsut out of the question rigth now.

so does anyone have them or use ones thay like or dislike?

What kind of features specifically are you looking for? It almost sounds like you could use a bbs like http://www.mercuryboard.com/

Yea a message board would probably get you pretty much what you want to be able to do. If you only want to keep project status and notes updated. If you're looking for something to give you a timeline Project is the best way to go, I know there's several others out there but can't recall them right now.

Also, if you're looking for a way to collaborate on files, tasks, etc. MS has a nice system out for Office 2003, I think it's called OneNote or something else. Again, another fairly expensive package though.

Check OpenOffice, it may have what you're looking for. I know there's a project program for linux, but I can't remember the name, "Mr. Project" maybe? I don't know...
