I listened to the first minute or so of that video... He is right - shipping out of the US is tough. If another company is springing for it - great - but when it is me, I don't even like to add Canada to the list. That CoolIT Domino that we just gave away went to Canada... Would have been $8 shipped anywhere in the US, but cost be $21 just to get it to Canada, and with my luck they'll tack on duties later.
But - that is why the eligible countries are listed in the rules - so I don't have to renege, or whatever, later. |

Yeah - That is supposed to work (or so I also thought). But last year I got a bill from FedEx about 2 months after shipping something to Canada. It was like a $50 item that I said had no value as a gift. Cost me $24 to ship and then I got a $27 duty bill later. Damn. |

I have several packages that were re-assessed in value shipped from UK, they royal mail marked the value on the box, Canadian mail gets it, opens it reassesses value, charges me more in taxes.
This is the country btw that basically allows piracy as long as people pay duties and taxes for it via consumable media and storage.
I love living here as there are zero natural disasters and virtually zero crime but goddamn, the government will rape you in taxes. |
Let me guess..Amazon.uk? It seems to be hit or miss whether or not you'll get charged taxes etc. I ordered from them once last year and had no problems. |

Usually, companies declare their item low enough as a gift, or in another foreign currency to avoid duties |
