I spent 4 years in college in the North SF Bay and Berkley was definitely one of the most whacked out places in the entire Bay area. The only other one that's in the same league is the Castro and Haight-Ashburry districts in SF. both are filled with hippy burnouts from the 60's and 70's, the only difference is in Berkley they get to be university professors. But hey, look on the bright side, they're nearly bankrupt and will get an early taste of the tax structure we'll all be subject to in a couple years.
