I'm using Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro on my E8400, paired with Arctic Fan 9 PWM as case exhaust.
Easy to control the speed using SW from Gigabyte (my MB) or Speedfan.

Totaly Silent at 800 Case and 1200 CPU.
Can get a bit noisy in demanding games when overclocked to 4GHz. But then you probably have game sound on and won't notice anyway.

I would check out some of the coolers from Xigmatek. They don't cost a ton and perform very well.

Check this deal out:

Newegg

$15 AR - Very highly rated cooler. Check Frostytech.com's top 5 lists for AMD and Intel... It is up there!

I'm thinking on going with a Tuniq Tower. I'll have to wait and see how that turns out.

Having tried both, I can tell you that the Core Contact Freezer is a better buy by a long shot. The Tuniq Tower was a PITA to work with. Personally, my favorite heatsink is the Noctua NH-C12P. It's super quiet and it performs very well. The construction of Noctua products is second to none.

But the Noctua is more than $50, no?

For something below $20, I'm eyeing the soon-to-be introduced Cooler Master Hyper TX-3. Newegg doesn't have it yet:

Try something from Noiseblocker. I think it will do fine!
