Custom built this one, having quite some fun playing everything on max detail, haha.

Specs:
Dual Core E5200
4GB DDR2 800Mhz Kingston
Asus Rampage Formula
XFX HD4770

Did some quick overclocking, no messing with voltages yet. Running rock solid so far.

Never overclocked video cards before so I'm going REAL slow with this one.

Motherboard BIOS is fantastic, automatically calculates RAM speeds at the given FSB, clear CMOS button on the I/O Panel besides the LCD poster...

Waiting until I save up some money so I can get an aftermarket cooler. Already bought some Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound to put on it, should arrive sometime in the next two weeks.

Nice! I am finishing a review of a HD4770 right now. The overclocking in the CCC OverDrive tab is pretty limited, but you should be able to push it right to the max in there without issue. And the results will be worth it in games!

I really found no use for overclocking it. I'm running S.T.A.L.K.E.R. on absolute max settings with 70-90FPS. Gotta get some other games to test out, but I'm extremely pleased with the performance so far.

Thinking on getting Windows 7 so I can use DX10 (currently using Windows XP).

What cooler does your XFX have, nolonger? Is it the one that covers the whole card?

No, it doesn't cover the whole card, it's the XFX one.

Most of them look the same, as noted in the review I just did...

Quote:
Take a good look at the Sapphire Radeon HD4770 512MB graphics card in the images on this page. Now take a look at every other Radeon HD4770 listed at Newegg.com. Physically they are all the same... same color schemes, same cooler, same PCB, same connection configurations. One thing Sapphire usually has going for it is a slightly enhanced design, but here it is obvious that using the reference design was necessary in order to remain competitive (notice how the prices are all about the same at that link, too).

Does it look like all of those at Newegg?

Nice review, Jason! I'm closely watching how the first batch of 4770's perform, especially with the open cooler.

I read that the initial sample reviews sent to media had the closed reference coolers. But the ones released have the open (cheaper) cooler.

I'm hoping more cooler choices will be released by vendors over the next few months to improve OC capability...
