Latest info says it'll be in the stores by the holidays. So we should see it this year, assuming all goes well.

I know at my place of employment we’re looking at beginning to roll out Win 7 within the next 12 months. Not much choice really, have to go to something within the next couple of years with XP support dying.

I've been really impressed with Win 7 so far.

From an enterprise perspective, I'm looking forward to messing with the XP Mode to see how it works out, and whether it can help run some of those old legacy applications that the business refuses to upgrade!

True, but it was about time for xp to retire. It was great, it still is, but modern times ask for modern OS, right? And a better one. For me 7 is a better one.

I think 7 looks soo much better than xp aswell, it looks more sleek and modern and considering most of us here probably have fairly big monitors and shiny rigs and stuff lol 7 will fit in more with them all lol Smile. Plus it seems a hell of a lot more customizable than xp ever was without hundreds of extras and mods needed to be added.

I won't disagree there. I'm working on getting all our hardware up to Win7 so I won't be the hold up. Problem is from an enterprise perspective, sometimes there is no choice on upgrading software. Sure the majors can be done, but then you have homegrown apps, mainframe apps, apps no longer available, etc that can't be upgraded.

I don't see the XP mode being really useful for home users, it's more for enterprise/business users.

I used Windows 7 64-Bit RC1 on a review already...

Didn't compare to other OSes, but it looked and worked just like Vista to me.
