I just installed (2) Gskill 2gb DDR2-6400 sodimms into my laptop. It when from single channel(1x1gb+1x2gb=3gb) to dual channel, same memory speed but lower latencies. This thing is hellava lot snappier with Vista!

Vista is showing 4gb with every application and internal program, but I suspect its the 32bit version. It should be showing a diminished amount of memory for PCI and memory addressing. ..something like around 3.0-3.2gb figuring in the shared 128mb for video. How come the full 4gb(4096mb)?? Where and what should I look with to see how much Vista Home Premium has addressed??

What does task manager say you have for total physical memory?

ahhhhh thanks acruxksa!! I forgot about that..

3070MB. It registered about 2944+/- before if my memory serves me correct. A little bit of a waste of RAM only gaining about 130MB, but until I get a copy of 64bit Vista it'll have to do.

Ya it's a bit of a bummer, but a hundred extra MB and dual channel can't hurt. Since the video card is using shared memory, dual channel probably helps video performance as well.

I figured that too.

I play WoW on this in the motel room. It did ok for normal questing and low player count PvP battlegrounds. But lagged quite a bit when I was in a heavily populated battle ground like Alterac Valley with 40 v 40 players and alot of spell spamming.

One day when I get all the drivers and appz located and saved for Vista 64 I'll get a copy and up grade.

Oh man... If I had known... I have a Kingston HyperX 800MHx SODIMM kit that has been sitting here. A weird 3GB kit (1x 2GB and 1x 1GB) for non-dual channel laptops with 32-Bit OSes.

Something keeps my laptop memory running at a zippy 299MHz no matter what... Laughing
