Ok, I know i only show up when i need advice to buy a computer and its parts and when its ready to implode and cause me t as well as withdrawls suck.

I was playing my machine last night untill about 5am because for a rare time... i had sunday off. I wake up at about noon, try t turn on my computer and nothign happens. I am used to this as i frequentl have to turn the power off on the back of my machine, let it compltly discharge of electricity and then i turn the switch, hit the power button and it works. I have sometimes had this problem since i originlly built my machine. I told you that because it seemed odd and might relate.

I have A 550watt sunbeam modular psu and a lanparty UT nF4 socket 939 amd chipset motherboard

Now i opened up my machien and there is only a little yellow light on underneith the 2nd PCI slot. I have been looking and can;t find out what it means. I pressed my power and reset buttones on my motherboard and nothing.

It seesn like a power thing because sometimes i let it sit for 30 mins and when i tried to plug it back on the normal red lightswould turn on but then they would immediatly shut off and its like its dead. I don;t have a voltage meter and am probly goign to take it into someone to look at it but does anyone have any advice as to what it could be so i know what to look for and have them check out?

The yellow light is probably normal, telling you it doesn't have any severe issues. Without checking it probably goes red if there's a problem, and green when you turn on the machine. At least that's what my DFI board did.

You are probably right about it being a power issue. Being a low watt unit I wouldn't expect it to ever have the issue you have had from the begining, unless there was an issue. I know on some of the 1K+ Watt units they'll do that if you are under using the power supply (ie using 400W out of the avaialble 1K).

The red light, is that on the Power Supply? The units I have that have that its red until you turn it on, then it goes green. If it is not staying on, that again leads me to suspect a power supply issue first.

the red light coems on when its normal and booting along with the yellow light.

I broke down and its runnin me 40 bucks to run a diagnostic at a local computer shiop but the guy is tellign em when it loads up its blue screenign and such.... And freezing whenever he uses a keyboard.

I never trust local shops... but oh well. I am thinking its time to upgrade and i can just canabpaize those parts into a bnew machione for someone or just sell them off. Its nto bad but its a 939 socket mobo and duel core 2.4ghz amd.

I just have no idea what kind of machine to buy. I am thinking somewhere around 1000-1500 dollars

Its never fun to upgrade when it isn't on your own terms, but hopefully at least your data is safe.

You should be able to do alot with that budget!

Well What would be good parts wise i have not looked at a damn thing let alone whats the best or id grade. I have been an amd fan, but i never overclock i just liek to game, and not worry abotu my computer. I liek it to be very well ventalated, noise is not a big issue with me i normally put higher speen fans on a case because i want to make sure its pushign through plenty of air. I did water coolign once, was great till it leaked and fryed my last system.

So anyone with advice i'll listen. Hell last time i looked quad core was a dream and duel core was brand new just about. I know quad cores in games is not being used so is it even worth it? I don;t do editing in photo or movies i just game and enjoy to relax and multi task. i love runnign games in windowed mode.

Oh and if anyone wants to buy my old machine minus the hard drives, i'll ship it. PS is bad and they say the mobo might have a problem Its a 2.4ghz duel core AMD with a Fatality heatsink on it the 120mm fan. a DFI lanparty ut expert MB and 2 gigs of Patriot ram at about 400 or 533 clock speeds depending onwhen u want your timmings.
I am thingking 100-300 bucks and buyer pays shipping.

Ok all done i think
