Bought one in 05 from new egg.
Power supply has apparently taken a dump. I need to locate a replacement. I'm not a hardware guy. I get buy somehow.... I'm trying to locate a replacement power supply & would consider MGE's stuff but no one has them anymore... also the new power supplys have better specs than the original...I just dont know where to begin to make sure I cover the basics on connections and the like... |

Sorry ....I see my topic title was not obvious in my request..the MGE Dragon Case which apparently no one sells anymore. I went to their site (MGE) and they offer power supplys but no one seems to have them...I have of course asked their tech support a few times for help to no avail......
so I'm looking to replace the default I got with the Dragon case I recall its a 500, and today you can find 600& 650's for under a bill, I just want to make sure I've got all the correct connectors n stuff to make the change easily myself.. I found you guys through a nice review of the case you did some time ago and obviously I'm anew egg fan..thats where I got my quotes and the case from so ..in case that helps you recommend a product for me to order this Friday....
Thank you for any and all assistance..... |

Ahhh... OK. I just checked the review we did of that case, and the PSU doesn't look too bad.... On this page - http://www.bigbruin.com/reviews05/xgdragon_3
Do you need modular cables? I was surprised to see a PSU included with a case was modular.
Anyway, you could probably pick up a wide variety of PSUs that would work fine for you. That one might be comparable with others you would spend $50 or so on, but what is your budget? Going higher might be better to make sure you get a quality unit that would last.
EDIT... One suggestion, based partly on my current kick for these EarthWatts units would be this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371015
High effificency, fairly strong ratings. Should be more power than you could need with any system using that MGE unit. Only downside might be that it is ugly... boring housing and old-school unwrapped wires. |

CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply
for same dragon case...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006&Tpk=750w%2bcorsair%2bpsu
My MB however is DFI Infinity NF4 SLI I'm not SLI Yet I have ONE Nvidia 7850 (She used to be the best) But I'm concerned that the 4 pin 12 V connector for the MB is not addresed by the PSU... Perhaps I'm just worrying for naught ,,,New eggs cust. reviews had this little snippet..
Pros: I could not actually test this unit, since it did not have a 4 pin 12V connector for my Asus MB.
Cons: No 4 Pin connector to supply 12v direct to the MB, but does have 4 PCI E cables.
Manufacturer Response:The 8 pin EPS connector splits into 2 four pin connectors for your MOBO power. Please read the manual if you need more info or contact us at our forum.
