Parts store= -1 (1-2 for the extra trip and frustration)
sears is trying hard to beat radio shack for poor customer service.
I believe the local parts store are a seperate division now and actually are supposed to compete with the 800#/web store. (yes, I also had to get a dryer belt from sears recently, so i can feel your pain) |
That would explain a lot!! |

The worst was about a year ago, the fan moter died in my parent fridge, and things were melting fast. After looking up the part # online, and making multiple attempts to call the closest/biggest of the 3 nearby (20 mile radius) Sears parts stores, we relented to the 800# who assuredus it was in stock there, so we went there only to find it was not, it turned out that the reason we could not call the the parts store direct (or through the sears store switchboard) is they had changed to an unlisted number! even the employees did not have it! The reason: to much time being wasted on customer calls! And the sales people couldn't understand why we thought this was bizzare
Fortunatly, one of the sales people knew the unlisted # for one of the other stores and had them hold the part for us, after we had them place an 800# mail-order for us, when we did get the part at the other store, my dad asked them to cancel the shipped order (this was within an hour, on a saturdat afternoon) It could not be canceled by them or my dad when we got home, so they shipped it several day later, and then paid to have it shipped back for full credit (no charge to my dad).
It's a system out of control, which nobody understands (the employee's seem to have given up, and just accept that's how it works.
BTW almost all Kenmore appliances were built by whirlpool, if sears can't get the part try a whirlpool dealer, you might pay alittle more (maybe sears isn't really all that cheap) but you may stay sane during the process, and maybe get what you need the first time |

I kept laughing before christmas because I'd get these funny robotic phone calls that go like this:
"Please hold for an important message" *delay*
"this is sears *delay* Canada *delay*, calling. Your order is ready and can be picked up. Pick up location is at *delay* Timmins. Press 1 to replay this message, press 2 for this message in french or press 3 to hang up.
*I press 3*
"thank you for shopping at *delay* Sears".
Because of the delays you can so tell that it's an automatic process that calls, and that it's some kind of 3rd party phone software and you just fill in the blanks to program it.
What makes me laugh is that it waits till the end to say that you can press 2 for the message in french, and it's said in English! _________________

Not bad. The only non-computer appliance I've ever fixed was my mom's 3 disc changer. The disc got caught inside the mechanism, so 50 screws (different sizes) later I got the thing open(well one of the panels) to remove the disk, and tuned up the mechanism a bit in hopes it does not happen again. So far so good.... _________________

OOOO I forgot to add... when I was putting everything back together, I saw this "dust ball" up by the electrical connectors. So I went to go look at it and notice..... it had teeth and a tail... A frigg'n mouse had got in there and probably electrocuted itself! HAHAHA! Little phucker serves it right! |
