Have any of you keyboard jockeys ever tried to get into shape?

I have, and I haven't been able to walk normally all week. Rolling Eyes

Health is so stupid. Smile

I've been trying to jog a bit in the morning. Ow! Can you break a foot just by jogging? It sure feels like it. But jogging in the morning makes me feel better about myself knowing why women are running away from me... Because it's 6 AM and they're alone on the path and this large bearded guy is running towards them Grin

Anyway just felt like ranting. Smile I'm pretty sure I'll be able to stick with this jogging thing, it actually does make me feel good and gets me up early and I do a lot more during the rest of the day. But in the meantime, does any of you have a sister that would like to get me my coffee? Or just roll my chair around? Ow. Smile

I'm trying to lose my girlish figure..

I've put on 50-60lbs in the last 1.5 years, getting close to my ultimate goal of redneck beer belly.

How about pear shaped? Laughing

I couldn't exercise for a year plus recently, and now that I can a bit, I don't really want to. But, even though I stayed fairly thin last year, now that I am a bit more active I am actually starting to bulge... Laughing

I try to hit the gym 5 or so days a week, sometimes less because of busy class/work schedules. I've never been a big fan of running or walking though, I don't have the patience for it. When I'm in the gym I'm lifting, my cardio workouts come from tennis/racketball and drop-in hockey(when i can afford the hockey) Smile

I know a lot of people that have been able to lose weight just by running, but I find its a lot easier to drop the pounds by playing a sport that I love, and having a good time while doing it.

Keep it up though, the first couple weeks are going to be the hardest, it'll just keep getting easier Smile

Me too! Well... if you consider man-tits 'girlish'. Smile

Went jogging again this morning... Wow it is hard and I'm not even pushing myself. Feels more like 50 minutes of walking than 30 minutes of running, but it's my first week, I figure as long as I keep trying to do *something* it's better than sitting in front of the comptuer all day eating potato chips. Smile

I read an article last week that said basically that doing anything all day (for example, walking or just standing up as often as you can) burns more calories than 30 minutes of jogging daily. So I'm going to be looking at flea markets and swap meets for an old threadmill that could fit my screen and keyboard on top Smile

Yes, round is a shape... But even if your flab is bouncing and has perpetual wave motions in it whenever somebody pokes you, it is not exercice! Grin

I'm pretty motivated to get healthier actually; for one thing I'm getting old - I *really* don't want to have prostate cancer and apparently sitting around all day is a factor Sad - and also last year I started fainting while coding and just surfing the web. Went to the doctor, she couldn't find out why - she said it was probably just a change in my lifestyle. But it's pretty clear that faiting while sitting is NOT a good thing. Smile Ergo, trying to improve my health. Smile

She was stunningly beautiful though, maybe she was the cause?

Also I'm planning for the future... what good is it to hire young ladies to take care of you when you're older and give you a sponge bath if you can't even get up? Smile

I said "girlish", was built like a 12yo gymnast before.. lol ...got the man-tits thing started now too. So I'm up to 9 month pregnant woman-ish with my belly that over hangs my belt by 3-4 inches. lol

Of the 60lb I gained, 40-50lbs of it has been since Teeny died back in July.
