Good news for Dr. Feelgood and all others who complained about low 3DMark06 scores lately.
ATI/AMD finally released Catalyst 8.4, which (among other issues) also fixes Performance drop in 3DMark05 & 06 (at least under WinXP - nothing mentioned about Vista yet).
I'll give it a try later in the day and will get back to you with 3DMark06 results, so we'll be able to see/check/compare old and new scores.
Also, Dr.Feelgood....now its best time to retest that ASUS 3870 (the already reviewed one), and see if it scores any better.
Cyaaaaaaaaaaa all

EDIT:
This version could easily be named "EMPTY PROMISES 8.4", because believe it or not...all i gained by installing it in 3DMark06 was....are you ready?....rather sit down somewhere....take a deep breath...and....voila....5....yes....thats not countdown to 0....but 5 (FIVE) points more! At exactly the same settings.
And when i compared actual framerates of each test...I noticed that there were actually a slight drops - around 0.3 FPS (so nothing serious to worry about, but still...), at both SM2.0 tests (GT1 and GT2)....and some even slighter gains in SM3.0 tests (HDR1 & 2) of around 0.1 or less FPS.
So overall..losses are bigger than gains...and the only reasonable explaination that at the end i got those 5 extra points...would in my opinion be, that in CPU tests i scored around 0.05 FPS more than with Catalysts 8.3 (although cpu score probably doesnt have anything with catalysts at all).
