Property value only matters if you plan to sell or get a home equity loan. Lower property values actually mean lower property taxes Grin

I e-filed today and scheduled the tax payment to be debited from my account on the 14th. I've been able to get some satisfaction in the fact that I filed on April fools day. Grin If I had known I could schedule my payment I would have filed back in February, but I have no intention of giving them my money more than a day or two before I have to. Wink

Wow... someone else that understands that principle.. lol

People are about 'tarded when they b!%@# cuz their property values are going down - but yet have no plans on selling.

Me, I want a set of "projects" across the road, a prison a couple blocks away, and a w#0R3 house next door. Why the phuck pay more in taxes for the same damn house??

ya always want low property value until you sell or get loan against it.

Filed and got all my money back right after the first of the year.

Property taxes do suck though, ours went up like 30+ percent this past year when the actual value dropped.............Sad

Property values suck! My grandmothers house has doubled in value since 2001! UGH! Not good for an old lady living on a very tight fixed income to have her property taxes double...

Should see if I can get it appraised, and point out all the issues with the house to get it appraised lower to lower the taxes LOL

Unfortunately some of us aren't getting refunds and in fact have to pay. Sad If I was getting a refund you could be sure it all would have been done back in Feb.

Our millage is limited by state law. And our borough council has to vote on any increases - each time the idea comes up without justification the council members find life a little more difficult.

And for them to reassess our properties - we have to vote on allowing them to do it because of the costs/budget it takes to re-evaluate all the properties. Only small increases happen here when you apply for building permits to upgrade/fix house.

My house is only a little higher in value than what was on my dad's deed for the place back in 1977. $6000 then / $6500 now improved (house). $3000 land. - yep, a $9500 taxable worth. My deed still shows the $6000/3000 value - but a couple building permits I applied for raised the value.

My value went from a little over 100k all the way up to almost 140k (taxable) for last years taxes.

And there's no way that a house can even sell anywhere close to that these days.

And our wonderful County Tax Office won't do a thing about it. And they say no taxation without representation.

Well we finally did it. Last year we owed $5,000. This year we went to the guy that did our crooked sheriff's taxes ... we are getting back $900 Yikes

If the government actually sends us the check and we don't end up in jail for tax fraud within the next five years ... I'll believe it Smile
