Our millage is limited by state law. And our borough council has to vote on any increases - each time the idea comes up without justification the council members find life a little more difficult.
And for them to reassess our properties - we have to vote on allowing them to do it because of the costs/budget it takes to re-evaluate all the properties. Only small increases happen here when you apply for building permits to upgrade/fix house.
My house is only a little higher in value than what was on my dad's deed for the place back in 1977. $6000 then / $6500 now improved (house). $3000 land. - yep, a $9500 taxable worth. My deed still shows the $6000/3000 value - but a couple building permits I applied for raised the value. |
