I find it extremely odd that Nvidia released the GX2 dual core 9800 before the single core 9800GTX,GT,GTS (or whatever they are calling it). Kind of makes me think that one 9800 core isn't that much faster than the older 8800GTX or even the newer 8800GTS (g92). $600 is only slightly more than 2-8800GTS (g92)'s so that would reinforce the theory that there isn't a whole lot of improvement in performance.

Now I'm not positive, but I don't think the GX2 is technically the 9800 cores, last I heard its actualy two G92 cores if I'm not mistaken.

I guess it's two 8800gts cores down clocked to 600Mhz. that explains why it benchmarks like an 8800gts sli.

If you have eVGA they are offering an extension for their step-up if you get the 9800gx2. Instead of the standard 90days, they are extending it to 120days. In case you are just outside the step-up range...

So, the oc3d guys have released the review of the ASUS card. I noticed that they compared it with a tri-SLI 8800 Ultra setup. This, of course, made me wonder what a tri-SLI 9800 GX2 benchmark would look like. Would the power grid for the reviewer's state go offline? Would time itself cease and fold in on itself as the GPUs pushed pixels to the screen faster than the electrons in the cable could handle? Would the monitor blow up? These and other questions remain to be answered!

So one of you reviewers here better get a tri-SLI 9800GX2 working (tell the retailers you're justborrowing the cards!).

Apparently Nvidia isn't on MS's Christmas list;

http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20080325-vista-capable-lawsuit-paints-picture-of-buggy-nvidia-drivers.html

I must admit that I have not noticed any troubles with my new 8800GT and Vista 64. I've actually got vista 64 on my laptop and main desktop now. The 8800GT Rocks DDO at 1680x1050 and everything on high Razz

I don't think upgrading from a G92 GTS to a GX2 is worth it.I would buy an 3870X2 which equals to Ultra in most cases but priced much lower.
