our office copier is on its way out. Getting pretty old now and keeps jamming so its really annoying. There's a million options out there and we don't even know where to start.
heres what we need:
standard paper size
legal
11x17
needs to handle all weights and gloss of paper
color not needed
several sorting trays required 10 would be great (we use all them and its what we currently have)
with the sorting auto stapling is also great
duplexing
needs to handle about 2-3 thousand copies a month
we spent 10k on the last one but dont wanna spend that now. We're looking to keep it moderatly cheap to justify a new one versus repairing the current one.
I have no idea where to start looking or anything. There's local places that sell these but the sales people are way to pushy and never leave you alone once you show interest so I'd rather look online first before talking to someone locally _________________

HP has some nice stuff...our rep gave us catalogs when we were shopping last year, but I misplaced them
We ended going with Canon. The scanner option isn't that great, but it works for us _________________

we just need copy thats all... its not hooked to the network or anything. We have a large color copier and a dedicated fax machine so ll in one isnt important but if it comes with it great.
whats mfp stand for and everything and what are the benefits of that? _________________

MFP = MFD = AIO
MultiFunction Printer
MultiFunction Device
All In One
I wouldn't just rule out looking at the MFPs, they are really nice, and most are going that way anyways, so for a few $ more you might be able to get a good MFP, possibly reduce the number of printers/fax machines out there.
I know that's what we are doing, we've removed about 15 printers and fax machines per floor, going to MFPs, and putting in two large MFPs per floor as well. We're expecting huge savings a year by doing that. Just makes people get up and walk a little to get their print outs.
Either way, Ricoh/Lanier has been good for us, we've got models in place for up to 10 years so far, with 3 mil copies on them LOL (they are past replacement date). |
