The batteries will eventually go bad right? Damn... I have my server in the the basement and my main rig on the main floor... too far away to protect both. Oh well, more money is in the main rig, I would cry if it went down.

Thanks for the advice

You can also build your own UPS and power your whole house, and charge your neighboors per volt per hour durring extended outages. Laughing

Here's a start point in the batteries:

I would be scared to know how much that would cost though. Definatly an arm and a leg, and you'll probably loose other body parts if you get electrocuted durring construction.

I have a UPS that lasts for 5 minutes, when we had that big blackout, it was 12:00 when the power went off again so I had to hurry up and get to bed before the computer shuts off because it was pitch black and I could not see a thing. I need to daisy chain a few together. Laughing

Mine will run my main system and a 19" CRT for about nine minutes, which is plenty of time...

The other one is six years old, but I tested it recently and it works fine.

Alright guys, you think this is enough to give me a few minutes to backup my stuff? I might need two of these, one for my primary rig, another for the server in the basement =(

That should give you enough time to get everything shutdown properly but it is on the small side.

Time isn't so much of a problem, I'm sure my 21" trinitron would suck it down quick... but for the price I can't go wrong!

thanks evil
