|
|
I bought a new video card from Newegg a few weeks ago... Shipped out on a Thursday, and on Friday I had a package already, even though I paid for 3 day shipping! Nice! Anyway, I didn't have a chance to look at it until Sunday, and when I open it up I find it is a free game that they threw in. What a let down, I thought I was about to install my new card. Pretty funny that a free game made it overnight, but the card itself took until the following Wednesday to show up... Uggh.
Anyway, that was minimal drama, the bigger drama came today when trying to complete the paperwork for the $20 rebate. They wanted the UPC, the rebate form, and the invoice as usual... But they also wanted the original packing list! - who asks for the packing slip? Problem was I had thrown it out days ago... and I have been on this kick of shredding everything that will fit into the shredder.
So, it turned into a craft project at my 6-year old's "project table". Like putting together a soggy, stinky puzzle using a sticky note board to hold all the strips in place until I could tape them all back together.
They better send the $20... We earned it!

I should probably pay more attention to the rebates on my buys. I never really bother with them like the company hopes we do. Pretty sure the vid card I got from Newegg last week didn't have any rebates though. And no new game either. Damn, oh well. _________________ 5 home-built PCs, ASUS A6Jc Laptop, and a PowerEdge 2650 - all running Gentoo. Now if only I can get a car and plane to run it. Take a look at my Gallery! |

good thing you don't have a good shredder. Then you'd have a 500 piece puzzle to do. _________________

Yeah - that joke didn't go over well with my 6-year old. I said something like "good thing I didn't get a cross cut shredder"... and she just squinted an eye at me and walked away. |

Same thing happened here, only I didn't shred. I threw away the packing slips with all the peanuts and empty boxes. Luckily I read the instructions for the rebates and ran outside and got the slips! Now I keep everything unless I know there is no rebate.
The bad thing about my experience is I had an EVGA 8800 Ultra KO and I signed up for the Step-Up program, knowing that the 9000 series was due to come out (probably within the 90 days). But my fiance did the rebate for that one and CUT OUT the upc from the box to get the $30 rebate. GRR.
Whats better, getting the latest best card around for about $100? Or a $30 rebate?

I'm pretty sure you can still do the step-up, they just subtract the cost of the rebate or the box, I can't remember. CHeck their forums, or leave them a message there. They are usually pretty good about answering questions. |
