With that whole CompUeless thing, and all the e-mail I have been getting from TigerDirect it makes me wonder if TigerDirect it like the Compusa of the online world?

All kinds of "deals" but they are either referb or with several MIR's.

Has anyone ever bought anything from them??

when i got my system built 4 years ago (whenever I joined these forms) they had the best deal out there... the processor and mobo were about 150 less than anywhere as a package. What they didn't mention was this was an "odd" processor from amd as in, only they sold it and it was impossile to get support for it and the mobo they packaged it with had to be flashed in a special way to support the processor... They were the only place that sold it and amd didn't even put it on their lineup

When I found that out, I immediatly swapped the cpu out for a "normal" one.. Their support was really helpful, I was expecting to have to raise hell to get what I needed...

Anyrate though... most of their stuff is refurb or through 6 rebates which are near impossible to get back... I don't shop through them anymore... I'd rather spend an extra 5 dollars to go to newegg or something which has yet to disappoint me.

EC, give their 800 number a call...probably listen to their infomercials for 10mins before you talk to someone live.

I used to use them, but not in at least 2-3 years.

I had bad luck with them about 3 years ago with some NIC card that wasn't what they had advertised it to be. I had to jump through hoops to get things straight. IMO, they are a deceptive, unscrupulous company. Never buy anything from them.....

Not really planning to. I have my normal sources, and I don't really deviate from them. Places like NE have never let me down, and when there was a problem they fixed it.

I've bought a number of things from them over the years (quite a bit from "global computer", tiger's parent and corp. sales arm)
I've never had a problem with their rebates (but have heard of a few horror stories)
My father-in-law (a BIG tiger fan) ordered a deluxe custom intel quad-core system from them in Oct, and everything arrived EXCEPT the CPU, which, according to the latest email is now backordered until mid/late January Confused (fifth delay, I'd be screaming, particularly since it is still advertized as "In stock")

This is interesting
Sysmax (global computer/Tiger direct) is buying the last bits of CompUSA (16 stores and the CompUSA website) and will continue to operate it as CompUSA.com.
Probably got it at a good price, but they missed the biggist value of buying when they still had 103 stores around the country. I'd buy more from CompUSA/TD if I didn't have to wait for overpriced, slow shipping (or VERY overpriced 2 day) and tricky rebates.
I'd probably do the rebates, IF I could pick it up locally same day, an return it if defective/not as advertised. (one of the reasons I hate web/by mail shopping)

Too bad you used your intuition on predicting the Tiger Direct buyout of CompUSA instead of picking the PowerBall numbers...
