im wondering if its worth it to wait about another 6 months to see if the quad core technology comes down... any thoughts? im runnin a amd 64 bit 4000+ so its not wicked old but when a few new games come out ill need soemthing different. my main thing is that i need a new graphics card but im running agp so i might as well upgrade everything.
so, should i wait till summer-ish or do it around xmas time? _________________

Hard to say.... I'm looking into the X-mas time frame right now. But that's also driven by wanted to get the kids "new" systems (our old ones in new cases and we get the new ones ).
It doesn't matter how long you wait, something better will ALWAYS be just a few months off. |

Amen Brotha Cheeze, Amen!
I say do it sooner if you want it. Prices will always fall as new stuff comes out... You just need to decide what is good for you and how much you want to spend. |

q6600 @ $275-ish and 8800 GTS/640MB @ $325-ish sound pretty good to me.

Intel already had higher speed chips ready to go. The motherboard makers are the ones who want them to slow down release. There's the old 1066 fsb, the new 1333 fsb, and the upcoming 1600+ fsb. Sometimes you get lucky and a bios release will update your motherboard, but not always.
Then there is the choice of cheap ddr2 ram, or expensive ddr3 ram. My own suggestion is wait until you can;t wait any longer. Best time to buy a whole system is right after NVIDIA releases a new Enthusiast graphics card to replease the 8800gtx.
When that happens, buy the latest and greatest everything. _________________ Turnipofpower.com - The Social Networking Side Dish |
