				Hi justalice... welcome!

Yes, some drives (like Seagate) do have jumpers for capping them at either 1.5 or 3 Gbps.

What brand do you have? Or are you looking at? |

yes, and having just found that jumper myself (silly me, I thought they were 3.0 by default) there is a SIGNIFICANT difference in performance _________________

I never saw havoc.ghost or Hellfire's post on here until nkdy posted... Oops.

This image is of a Seagate 3Gbps drive... LINK

The jumper location is to the left of the SATA data connection... 4 pins inside the 'box'. Drives generally ship with a jumper on two of the pins capping it a 1.5Gbps, removing the jumper all together enables 3Gbps speeds.

As far as I know, the Maxtor set u pis the same. |
