New issue... The serial port connection worked fine when I was in the root account, but logged in as any other user doesn't allow access to the serial port. Does that make sense? gThumb only checks USB as any user other than root.

Not sure why the program wouldn't check serial as a non-root user. If it's a permissions error, try chmod'ing the device file 777 or chown'ing it to the user. _________________ 5 home-built PCs, ASUS A6Jc Laptop, and a PowerEdge 2650 - all running Gentoo. And now I'm sorry my daughter saw this camera. So painfully slow, but she thinks it is cool.
