OK, I've had my fill of problems with the WinSMP client. Back to vmware linux64 smp client. Runs smooth with no issues and is as fast or slightly faster even with virtualization. Plus I can run two virtual machines with the linux64 smp client when my QX6600 gets here Monday _________________

what kind of problems were you running into? Mine would stall every once and a while...had to restart it about once a day. _________________

hmmm...mine stops after 6-7 hours, on the Windows boot side. It's acting up on the Mac side, which is why I shut it down. Maybe I'll wait till they post a new SMP verison for Mac. _________________

Mine would run great for days/weeks at a time, then I would reboot the computer and the mpiexec program (part of the smp client install) would start hogging cpu resources and slow the folding frame times to a crawl. It happened twice over the last month and I had to completely uninstall and re-install to get it working properly again. I decided it just isn't worth the hassle, since the vmware/linux64 solution works nearly as well and has been completely stable for me.
I should point out that this is on Vista 32bit. The Winsmp client running on my laptop (winXP) has been working great for over a month now. Biggest problem there is that In order for my laptop to finish a workunit before the deadline I can't have it shutdown for more than about 18hrs. in a 3-4day period. _________________

This site looks interesting.
http://reilly.homeip.net/folding/
You enter some team info and it supposedly generates a bootable linux cd/usb thumbdrive that is setup to fold.
I haven't tried it, but may at some point in the future. If anyone does give it a shot, please post back on how it worked for you. _________________

I've got my q6600 (quad core oc'd to 3.0Ghz) running 2 vmware/ubuntu64bit virtual machines and folding@homes Linux smp client on each.
first impressions, this thing is fast, second impression, this thing is HOT. Off course it's oc'd to 3.0Ghz on air, but still, it's HOT. Current 100% load temps are mid to high 60's with my Zalman 9700. I may try re-adjusting the hsf to see if I can get temps down to the low-mid 60's. Ideally these things need water cooling, but I'm just to freaking lazy these days to even mess with it, so I guess I'll just run it hot. If it fry's it fry's. Still got the e6400 in the closet just in case.
Should take about a day and a half for production to pick up. Assuming I don't hose the OS trying to find the max OC/FSB before then.
**Update**
Just reseated the heatsink and used more Zalman thermal grease (noticed there wasn't nearly enough the first time) and now my %100 loaded temps are in the low 50's
also of note, this cpu has massive amounts of voltage droop. I have 1.35v set in the bios, but the chip is only showing 1.296v. Still running smooth at 3.0Ghz though. _________________
