Mine would run great for days/weeks at a time, then I would reboot the computer and the mpiexec program (part of the smp client install) would start hogging cpu resources and slow the folding frame times to a crawl. It happened twice over the last month and I had to completely uninstall and re-install to get it working properly again. I decided it just isn't worth the hassle, since the vmware/linux64 solution works nearly as well and has been completely stable for me.
I should point out that this is on Vista 32bit. The Winsmp client running on my laptop (winXP) has been working great for over a month now. Biggest problem there is that In order for my laptop to finish a workunit before the deadline I can't have it shutdown for more than about 18hrs. in a 3-4day period.
