One of our laptops is having some strange problem when starting up. Please let me know if you have ever seen windows in the attached image and text.

Just as a guess, I think it's something to do with CD/DVD Drive. But I wanna be able to give him other things to try tonight besides booting w/o the drive in.

yeah, I know weasel. To make it worse, it's a refurb Dell. He said the missing file has come up since he got it, MONTHS AGO. But he doesn't restart much so it doesn't bother him. But now the other crap comes up.

Have you checked the Admin Services for an application that is being prompted to start? Also in the Registry? And AUTOEXEC.NT file?

I've noticed that some OEM's still have enviromental variables assigned in the autoexec files even today that are for outdated hardware needs.

everything I've seen for a idlist error has to do with the wireless chipset.

Maybe disable that and see if it goes away.

how do you not reboot a laptop ???
