he also informed us all . that on the final release of Vista that all 5 version will be on the same CD .and the serial no. you have to put in will tell the computer what version to load .
also if you dont sign into microsoft toregister Vista in the alloted time frame the OS will shut down .and all you be able to do is use Internet Explorer for 1 hour at a time .to give you time to activate the program . if you dont activate in that one hour .the system shuts down till the next day and then it will do this all over again .till you call or use Internet Explorer to active ! |
Sounds like a lovely activation 'feature'. I still don't understand how I can play games like Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory and Counter-Strike 1.6 that require less of a graphics card than this damn OS. What the hell is so graphically demanding in Vista that is requiring a 128mb card? The Fancy Alt-Tabbing? _________________ ABAP? What did you call me? |

They probably used an inefficient method of utilizing the framebuffer for the so-called "3D" desktop and the transparency stuff. Again, a "Linux and Mac did it!" type of thing.....and better :-).
I know, EC, I know. I'm a hater. _________________ 5 home-built PCs, ASUS A6Jc Laptop, and a PowerEdge 2650 - all running Gentoo. Now if only I can get a car and plane to run it. Take a look at my Gallery! |

No no... needing 128MB Video card just for the OS is not really an acceptable situation. |

Meant to add in there that my 1997 Crapaq with Pentium II and some 32MB ATI graphics card runs the KDE transparency and shadow rendering stuff fine. Not flawless like a modern PC, but not bad at all for the specs.
But no, there should be no reason to require a higher-0end video card just to run an operating system. You can disable Aero which utilizes it all, but even so I don't see how my old 32MB nVidia Geforce 2 can't run it even though that card gave me some good times in games like America's Army, Ghost Recon, and Flight Simulator 2002 and with much more graphics rendering for the games. |

So basically we need 128mb cards to use transparent windows? _________________ ABAP? What did you call me? |
