I'm beginning to think these PSU's are total crap. I have experience with a total of three units within the past 15 months or so. Two of the three stopped working within a year. Both were 500W and over the $50 mark. However the one that is working is a cheap 300W. GO FIGURE!

On one the 120mm fan cracked and would not spin anymore. First time I have ever seen a fan crack from normal use.

The other just stopped powering on. It was used as a server and would only get powered on nightly at 9pm and turned off at 11pm. I tested the psu with my coolmax psu tester and only the +5vsb was working.

Needless to say, I will not waste money and time on Ultra anymore.

Never a problem here, and I have several... One is on a well overclocked rig that runs F@H 24/7... Others are a few years old and banging away all the time...

Could be user error... Laughing

They do have a lifetime warranty... take advantage of it!

could be user error, but I doubt it since one was automatically powered on/off and other justed a few hrs a day at the most.

The one that hasn't failed is one I use sometimes (although it's just 350W)...other two were on uncle's and father's computers.

I'll have to check for the warrenty details and let em know I have two lemons.

I have two ultra's in use that have been going for about 2 or 3 years now, a 400w in my home theater that's run 24/7 and my sons computer a 500w. Also a friend of mine has two in each of his for several years as well. Never any issues with them here.

Like with anything, you can have bad ones Sad As BB said, take advantage of the lifetime warranty Smile

I've had two of the 500w supplies, and to my knowledge they're still running fine. One was in my system until I upgraded to a PC Power&cooling 510 SLI psu, and the other one I purchased for a friend to fix her system.

I do. But of the two bad ones, one was on a tripp lite and the other just hooked up to the power strip. The one with the tripp lite was the cracked fan.

I have an Ultra XConnect 500 and an X-Finity 600w. Both of them run like champs, except for the dust. Too bad there's not a trade-up program; I'd love to get my X-Finity in for one of the modular units that was reviewed recently here. My only issue with the XVS may be the lack of bling.

I have two new ones I recently won sitting on a shelf. An X-Finity 500w and an X-Finity 600w. Haven't had a chance to test them yet.
