I am trying to figure out what the big deal is with myspace.com. I have been hearing about it off and on and I know a few younger people that I work with that use it. Now I am not super old but for some reason I never got into the whole myspace.com thing.

Now so as not to become a technological dinosaur I have decided to open an account.

I can see how it can become a convenient place to talk to friends and share information but heck you can do that on message boards and thru IM. I guess it is a good thing if you want to have a platform where you can broadcast your message to a large group of people without have to repeat it.

But at the same time I don't understand how it has become so big.

I don't know how to use 75% of the features or how to change the look of the page and it seems like there are little to know instructions on how to do different things with the page. I am sure I could search the net but I don't have time for that.

I guess I will see how the site works and what it has to offer as I go. I want to know what the hub-ub is all about.

If you have an opinion or comment let me know what you think.

I had an account for about 2 days, then deleted it. Myspace is filled up with the emo/scene kids which I just want to kill or at the very least mame/cut their hair. If they're not emo, they're advertising themself to get laid by someone in their "Extended network." It's just another Web 2.0 site removing the good ol' English dictionary from kids and replacing it with "lol", "t^4 y", and "wtfwjd?".

I work for an incorporated Myspace company now and everyone in it refuses to have a Myspace account. Myabe it's because we're all geeks who don't even have the skills to communicate online. Are we really that bad?

I thought it was only for kids, pedophiles, and other chesters looking to take advantage of something/someone.

Interesting. I think the myspace thing is pretty stupid as well. However I wil lgive it a try to see what it is like. I have already found a few college friends on th thing- so at least it was nto 100% pointless.

Not goign to put a whole lot of effort itno it but I want to at least know what all the younger people are up to these days.

I have an account there.. ..use it to play comment tag with my brother in FL. Also to keep in touch with other friends here 'n there..

It is also an outlet for my thoughts on subjects thru blogs. ...sometimes stuff that I cant post at forum due to language or other socially sensative matters.
