Step away from the crack pipe.

Everything is fine. Buy nothing. There are no problems. The little blinky lights are supposed to go blinky blinky. If they don't, then you can panic because Hitler's Ghost has invaded your computer.

@Big Bruin: Careful. You don't want to confuse him with OSI Models, 7 layer TCP burritos and other Ethereal Tools nightmares. He probably hasn't scanned for Spyware and/or has some program that sucks up his bandwidth on a regular basis like Kazaa.

Since you're connected to a modem, the orange light is normal. The flashing light means that there's some data coming from / going to your modem.

You maybe have too much background apps running if ping works bad. Your modem and computer are OK, don't touch anything like others told.

Dont call me dumb or anything but i got a new cable which goes from the cable modem to the pc, and it seemed to fixed my ping problem and stuff as everything seems to be working alot better, and after looking at the old cable there was some cat teeth holes in the cable which leads me to think that was some of the problem as my ping has not gone over 50 on any servers i play on and it seems that my pages loads faster so i think i fixed my problem or something fixed it

Ethernet cables(Same for PATA and SATA ones) are very sensitive so your cat might have damaged it. Even bending a cable too much, squeezing it too hard or running it near AC wires can make things slower ( More signal losses are errors : Why ping and speed were probably slower)

Probably broke some of the shielding (Yes, even UTP - unshield twisted pair has SOME shielding) was damaged and caused some bleed over.

The twisted pair.

If you're talking about ordinary cables with male plugs, then, yes, they've probably got real shielding.

To make sure your cat doesn't damage your cables, get some Cat-5 or Cat-6 ethernet cables.

Not dumb, the little stuff even trips up the most experinced users.
Ethernet cables are amazingly durable, yet over time all the minor injuries added up to end of useablity/end of life well before total malfuction. (it works, it just doesn't work very well) a new cable is a cheap fix.
