Isn't it the point of the tuner card? The software has to support pausing.
The cards you suggest are not HDTV, but if you don't use antenna TV, HDTV broadcasts are going to be pretty rare.
If you don't look for HDTV an ATI Theater 550 or 650 card (As well as those Hauppauge)will work without problems.(I think they are about the best TV cards) If on Linux, I think that the 550 is supported in the latest kernels but not the 650 which was just released.
An xtal clear picture is hard to get with a computer monitor with normal NTSC/PAL tv.(It's showing artefacts because there are too much details) |

I talked to someone who has an HP media center just a few months older than mine, and he told me that the stock tuner is garbage and he bought the Hauppauge PVR-250 and the quality is "as clear if not clearer" than his TV. |
