What is the best free firewall?

Right now im using the Kerio Personal firewall the free edition and there has not been any updates for along time which is making me wonder if they stoped supporting the free edition. I had the zone alarm one which i didnt like it too well so is there anyother good ones?

Yes, KPF doesn't exist anymore. If you have KPF4 apparently it's a real POS (Security hole) but the older Kerio Personal Firewall 2.1.6 wasn't. (And that's why I still use it and never had a single problem)

Linksys/Cisco NAT router...w/ IPSec if you need secure tunneling.

A router can be a good firewall, but when you need to open ports, having a firewall on the computer always help.

In which case, the standard Windows firewall is "strong enough," granted this is a PC we're talking about and not a server. In either case, if the port is open, you obviously will need it open in the software firewall, as well.

The difference is that if there's no software firewall, the opened port will not appear stealth, but closed on online firewall test. A firewall like KPF 2.1.6 let you select what kind of packet you want from what port for which IP with a specific application, so if it's turned off, the port is stealth.

Why have only one?

And for Free firewalls, I think your either gonna have to use what you have/already have used or go to Linux.
