I went and checked wifes unit -power light was on .but computer was off and when i hit the power on switch .it would start to power up (power supply kicked on ) and turn off .before it even come up to a lighted screen on start up .and the computer shuts off . so i swap out the 450 watt codegen power supply.with a true power 480 watt . get it all hooked up plug in the power cord and it fired right up .without pushing in the power button . it fired right up to windows xp pro . and all seemed fine .i have windows shut down the computer and now the power light on the front is lit up red .but i hit the power or reset button .and the computer will not fire back up .any ideas |

it was running before the problem was found and the case had not been open .
i think the 12 v power plug took a dump .spoke to a friend and he had seen this before happen on emachines .this is no emachine but funny he seem sure he know wha was going on -the mb is toast from his veiw point and im going to try pulling the cmos battery .and reset it and see if this cures it .if not its new mb time
this is a ECS 661fx-m motherboard if it matters |

Check for RMA. My old super micro boards had a 3 year warranty on them and they both blew at the 2.75 year mark. |
