Hi all, I'm a bit stumped here.

I just put a Radeon 9600 in the machine I use to watch .AVIs and DVDs on, and I keep getting a lousy picture. I don't know wether to call it banding or shearing, but what happens is, whenever there's movement in the image, an horizontal "split" line appears between one frame and the next as if the image didn't have time to refresh fast enough between frames. It's very annoying.

I thought I'd enable vertical sync, but I can't find that setting in Catalyst!

The 9600 should be able to display video without any shearing; it should be good enough for 720p. And I don't think it's the codec as I've tried in many different programs. Any ideas?

Thanks for any hint.

DoH! Never mind that!

It helps tremendously to set your S-video as "primary" instead of secondary. Smile

Newbie mistake, won't do it again.

Is there any way to delete embarrasing posts? Bang Head

Err, thanks... I guess? Laughing

Your sig reminds me of last sunday's episode of the Simpson - I was messing with settings on my PVR and started running it to try things out. if you haven't seen the episode, it starts with a "tivo" screen asking "Delete this episode? Yes/No" thing.

I went "WTF?!?" and looked around frantically to see if the cat was playing with the remote. Smile Not one of my most brilliant moment. Actually, probably one of my two worst moments.

The other one was when I started this thread. King
