I build them for friends/family/acquintances. Just a matter of them knowing what their use of it is going to be. Typically I'll get a $ amount from them, and give them what I would recommend depending on their needs. Then recommend them to Dell/Gateway/etc.

Unless of course they want to learn how to put them together, then I teach them the basics, and what they need to get. Then they go off and get their list of stuff they would like for us to review. Then comes out my red pen to make updates for them Smile

I play MMO's with probably about 50 people and that's how I do it with them. Tell them to put together what they would like, and then I make recommended changes. Sometimes they just go to online places (recently four of them have bought systems from Ibuypower.com and had good luck with them).

Specifiy that you just slap it together...if you have problems, here's the original reciepts...boxes...manufacturer contacts, etc. and your on your own for contacting them if something comes up and you're defineately not a software tech for them.

Its getting old... and most don't need the power they can get with the most basic of Dells. Unless its a special project, or an attempt to use some old parts, i really don't want to help any more.

I'm building one for a friend either today or tomorrow, let's hope I don't have too many problems to troubleshoot, I really have better things I could be doing.

I will take care of family for the most part. but sometimes help out a friend in need if they need it. I do tend to refer people to dell when their level of knowledge isnt that high, just so i dont become the 24/7 support for them when something goes wrong....they call me and if it takes more than 5 minutes of work, i tell them to call Dell...its what they paid them for, i dont get any cash.
