Remember that google makes it's money on advertising, dumping money in to repackaging some flavor of *nix would bring back very little return, sticking with allpurpose , free or mostly free O/S neutral web apps, provides the most AD/traffic directing revenue. |

No doubt Google has some big projects in mind, take a look at the HUGE area at moffett field they intend to develop

but I doubt it's an O/S they're after.
Even MS is learning that it takes a lot of money to design a new modern O/S from the ground up. |

Ummm, they are "learning" that? Maybe you have forgotten but MS has led the pack in OS design since windows 3.1 back in the 80's. I think if any group of people on the planet knows what it takes to make a good modern OS, it's Microsofts development team... |
