Haven't needed it yet, but my cousin used it from somewhere along the amazon (he's a grad student doing rainforest research) to keep in touch with the parent in Ohio for a couple years. Saved many $1000's in phone charges, and never had a problem.
With Sky-out and Sky-in (allows use to 'normal' phones) it seems worth considering particularly for international ($$$$$$) calls.

I should clarify... I have two phones, and they're for review.

Both are simple USB phones that require Skype, or something similar. So, for right now I have two Skype accounts and I have been calling from the office to the kithcen, and it works well. Especially considering the kitchen phone is on a wireless laptop. So, I guess the signal is leaving the phone, out of the house to the internet, back in to the house and to the other phone. Sounds perfect.

Signed one account up for some Skype Out credits and made some PC to phone calls. This was from the wireless laptop to the house phone, which is a 2.4 GHz wireless job. Had some lag in the conversation, but I'll have to see if all the action on the 2.4 GHz band had something to do with it.

This is kinda cool... Can take this on vacation, to CES Grin, and so on!

If anyone has Skype, look up bigbruin.com

I just loaded Skype on my PDA. Hey, now I have a mobile phone / PDA! Laughing

Works pretty good... well, better than I thought. I need to wait until people are awake to make some real calls.
