novice needs help regarding new motherboard

What PSU do you have? And how much wattage?

Chieftec 360 Watts. Came with the case.

A 360W is enough to power you system, but if that case wasn't at least $80 - $100 it's a cheapie PSU and could cause issues.

When does the system restart, or experince problems? Randomly? When gaming? When watching your favorite pr0n move?

I would say 360 watts is marginal check out this Power Supply Calculator to see what your system requires.

I have also seen several machine do the random reboot like you describe with a bad stick of ram. You might try pulling one at a time and see if you can isolate the problem to a stick of ram if you feel sure the power supply is not the culprit.

It did cost about 100, if I recall correctly, so it's not a real cheapie anyway.
Most of the restarts happen during gaming and running Cubase( hd-recording). SOmetimes they also happen randomly,without the machine being put through much strain.
The pron hasn't been a problem, luckily

Other question is heat too.... how hot is the CPU getting?

With the Power Supply Calculator, I end at 205 watts, so I can't see it being a problem. I have a friend with the same Case and PSU, and he doesn't struggle, even though his gear uses slightly more power.
I will try and run it through some testing with one chip of ram at a time, and see what happens.

Right now it is 45 C, with winxp and defrag running.

that seems warm for nothing going on... can you monitor that during games or perhaps a CPU benchmark app?

Aopen Silent PC had smart control enabled, and the fans didn't kick in until the cpu went past 45 C. With the Cpu fan and system fan on full, it had a max of 47 C using CPU Burn-in for ten minutes.
Is this acceptable?
