I'm thinking of updating my rig, was looking at the SATA II hard drives available *I'm a seagate fan* The only ones are Hitachi, WD and Samsung... Anyone know if Samsung drives are any decent? I have a hitachi in my external with no problems, and I'm weary of WD. Think it would be worth it to give Samsung a shot?

I've had a 120gb Samsung that came in a compaq maybe 3 years ago. Its never given me any problems and has probably gone through more OS changes/reformats than I could count. Never had any problems with it.

I am a maxtor person for just storage drives. I have never purchased one but own a lot.

And hey, the guy who got me into computers was a engineer for WD. lol.

I have been a big fan of Seagate for a while, but Maxtor caught my eye recently (review coming this week). The choices in SATA-II are so limited, the best bet is to find a deal and look for a warranty of at least 3 years. 5 is nicer, though! Grin

I so wish I had some SATA II drives for my main box. Perhaps my next upgrade.
