There's a long history there. Essentially, Netscape went open source, with Mozilla building it's own suite. Later, after being bought by AOL, Netscape gave up the browser thing and gave the Mozilla Foundation a bunch of money and all of its source code. At which point, the Mozilla foundation created the 'Gecko' engine to power their software. It's in newer versions of Mozilla Suite and has been part of the Firefox code base since the beginning. _________________
