Largest Passenger Jet Unveiled

Quote:
Although the A380 has not yet taken to the air -- the first test flights are scheduled for March -- 13 companies have already placed firm orders for 149 of the aircraft, which comes with a catalogue price of between U.S. $263 and $286 million (€200 and €218 million.)

I'm waiting for the test flight before I apply for a loan to get one Wink Hope it does not turn out to be the Titanic of this century.

Quote:
Some companies are looking at using the extra space on an A380 to install conveniences never before seen on commercial passenger jets. Bedrooms, gyms, bars and spacious lounges are all options.

Oh Baby! Grin

Who needs a bedroom, when you've got a "stew" bent over a warm food cart Smile (think of this next time you bite in to a warm creamy airline meal) Crazy

considering it's a couple 1000 pounds heavy (estimated 15-20k#'s over spec), and airports must do close to $60 million in improvements per gate to handle it, I'd just as soon not arrive in baggage claim with 5-800 other 'fellow' travelers at once .
I still wonder if the shopping/dining and bar space (see the mockup pics) can really generate the revenue to pay for this monster.
