I think it boils down this way for me:

Any newer machine - XP

Anything else - 2000

I hate searching for drivers... the newer OSes have the necessary crap already there. 2000 is a great OS, XP is good too but won't run with older hardware.

I also have an old P2 350 running Icepack Linux, but its just a plaything.

ME is an absolute joke, good for nothing at all... except maybe making a boot disk...maybe!!!

I just put ME on the in-laws machine. I had 98SE on there, but they keep screwing it up messing with stuff they know nothing about.
I'm hoping the system restore in ME will aleviate some of the long didtance (75 miles north) tech calls I get.

Hey Trek, I hope you don't actually get a huge increase in the Northern Tech Calls!!!

ME will become your worst enemy.

Splurge for XP for them and then you can do a Remote assistance and fix it from your comfy chair at home.

1 - W2K Adv Server (Decideing between W2K3 Enterprise & Small Business server to upgrade too)
