Gack... I have been soooo unimpressed with any Maxtor I have ever had. They have been reliable, but slow as dirt!

My maxtors have usually lasted 3 - 4 years before going out. Usually end up replacing them with larger drives before they go out. Never had an issue with speed on them, always seem to get great performance.

True Knight... Other than those DeathStars IBM made, I have had such outstanding luck with them it's not funny. Never had an issue with Seagate, but I think I've only used their SCSI drives.

Maxtor, never a problem, just slow. WD..... ooooo I have stories.... much worse than the DeathStars ever where... in one smaller shop I worked in we would sell WD drives in the systems we had built for our clients. We had to stop when we started getting close to a 50% failure ratio in the first 6 months on drives!! Yikes I haven't touched a WD since then. (But I've considered their Raptor drives)

Looks like either this guy was full of sh*t or the offer is gone. I have been registered on the site for a long time, and I can't find this deal anywhere.

Deal died yesterday... browse to the end of the thread and you'll see. I got registered before it died, but didn't get in on it. I see many people on slickdeals and anandtech apparently got in!! If only I had seen this when it was brand new last week!! Grr...
