Moved the Shuttle MB and 2500 Barton from the old machine and put it into the other case, that had the Gigabyte KT333 MB in it. Now when it starts to boot up in Windows it flashes a VERY fast blue screen and then reboots.

Don't want to do a reinstall, but could that be the problem? Going from a KT333 chipset to a NForce2 MCP chipset?

Yea, thats most definitly it. Boot the XP CD, and repair the installation. You'll also have to reinstall sp1 and all the updates, etc, but your apps should be ok.

Not clear on what your saying.

If all you did was changed out the processor from one board to the other, all you should need to do is change the FSB and Multiplyer in the BIOS to read the new CPU.
If, on the other hand you switched other hardware also....YES, you will need to do a fresh install of the OS (the old install is still trying to read the OLD settings from the other hardware that was installed)!

Damn, when I installed the AMD64 board in this machine, didn't do a reformat (have since) but everything worked great. Was hopeing to have the same luck with the other machine Sad

Oh well, guess I know what I'm doing tonight.

Doing a clean install doesn't scare me, it's just that I don't know what Apps I need! LOL not to mention my mail file with my reg codes Razz hehe oh well

hehehe Some odd reason the past year I've been in the mood to be registering lots of software...

Bulletproof
Agent
Newsbin
WinZip (don't ask my why I did this one)
Picture Gallery
Sandra Pro
And all of my wifes games and some other utilities.

BTW, so I don't lose any of my software, I just reinstalled the old MB/Processor. Will make the switch next week when I can spend the time to write down things and back it up Sad
