Hey... Got my Seagate S-ata drives and started to re-install WinXP. The RAID BIOS is set up as RAID 1, and it sees both my drives... Start the XP install, and give it the floppy for the RAID drivers. But, then it tells me there are no drives for it to install onto? WTF Do these drives need to be formatted or something? Never had this issue on IDE RAID, or just plain IDE...

Thanks! Mr. T

I thought you always had to format.....not sure how raid 1 would work tho. Do you format each seperatly (for the mirror) or will the raid utility do them for you?? I've only used raid 0 (stripeing) where both drives need to be formatted as 1 large drive.

Not sure why I didn't realize it, but I guess I need to do at least an initial setup on the disks... Bang Head - not sure what I was thinking. I have had som many Maxtor's for so long, I forgot they were all setup with MaxBlast at one point...
