The stuff I already have:
60 GB OCZ SSD (for Win7 64bit), Other HDs for storage
2x GeForce 460 SLI
600W PSU
DVD/CD Burners

What I plan to buy: (Budget for items below is $400 shipped, currently at $385)
G.Skill Ripjaws 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1066, $35
MSI P67A-G43 w/USB 3.0, $115
Intel i5-2500 3.3Ghz (3.7 Turbo-boost), $210
Cooler Master Hyper TX3 CPU Cooler, $26

I don't think I can do much better for less than $400. I'm still running a PC with 2007 technology so this will be a big jump for me.

Jim

Who is this guy? WTF

Two brief comments from me...

Memory. Why 1066MHz? Or does that mean PC3-10666 (which is 1333MHz)? 1600MHz won't cost you much more (or it might be less if the sales line up for you). Right now the same RipJaws stuff at 1600MHz is $48ish.

CPU. Make sure it is the 2500K, not just the 2500. The K is unlocked. Check MicroCenter - I think there is one near you - they have the 2500K for $180 in store!

Haha ya ya... I'm trying to get back into the game....

OK - so I screwed up on the memory, I'm glad I asked. I'll upgrade to the G.Skill 2x4GB DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) w/decent 8-8-8-24 timings for $55. I really wanted timings in the 7s but I don't want to pay the $29 premium.

Good call on the 2500K from MicroCenter, I think I'll order with them separately.

Thanks Jason, these changes still keep me below $400.

No, get the new AMD 8 core I heard itz p0wnz!

Laughing

On a side note, I have used a few MSI MB's, and always find them... "odd" don't know what it is about them, but I always seem to have just odd things on a PC that uses them. I've been hearing some real good things about ASRock lately, and as a matter of fact have an older one that is currently running my firewall... It's been running 24/7 for 3+ yrs now. I think this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157229 should just fit in your price range.

P67 mobo + 8GB ram + free SD card = $169.98
2500K + CoolerMaster cooler = $206.68
Total shipped w/tax = $376.66

Not bad! On top of this the $20 rebate for mobo.

Thanks for helping me spend my money guys!

Since he's under budget, does that mean we get the rest of the money? Confused

Great Kingston deal - cheaper before the rebate - then super cheap after - http://www.buy.com/prod/kingston-hyperx-8gb-2-x-4gb-ddr3-sdram-1600mhz-240-pin-desktop-memory/q/loc/101/214321687.html - too bad you were in such a hurry! Wink
