i respect gateway because they carry amd processor lappy's and desktops they didnt give in and sign the intel only contract...

Yes they did... they only recently started selling AMD again.

i will never buy a hp laptop again after the last one i had ! it don't matter what brand cpu they install in them .
there replacement parts are very costly (battery ,cd drives ) and the way they design the power connector internal is very bad in design . if the plug is pushed the wrong way it will fry the motherboard . im talking a light tap say your using the unit and have the power plug in the unit and it taps a hard surface the right way .it can and may burn a hole in the motherboard fronm a grounding short Sad repair tech told me he had seen lots of them with my same problem and it was very common on hp note books .

I would never buy an hp/compaq period, I've seen/had a lot of bad experiences with them in the past.

HP/Compaq are the best servers on the market, bar none. Laptops... I hate dell, HP/Compaq, Gateway (sorry ren)... I like Toshiba's, and those Sagers are SWEET!

i like dell lappys and viao has really picked up their game...as far as desktops e-machines are some of the best...at least thats what i heard from my buddy who works at best buy...he said that in the last few years e-machines have really evolved into great pc's...and they use namebrand motherboards in some of their machines...

Gateway bought emachines but even that with Hack's recommendation does not have me in a rush to go by any emachine. I have worked on more than a few of the older ones and they were built extremely on the cheap side.
