Agreed..the 3400 is basically the 3500 with a 1600 HTT cap..And it ran HL2 and Doom3 And anything else great..
I just want to play..Just like I did with the 3400.After I found out where it stoped I set it back stock...I don't expect it too do much..I just wanted to see..That and the oddity of the missing multis has pricked my curiosity..
I bought the 3800 because I got a good deal and I wouldn't have to OC it to see 2400 out of it. right now it runs at 210 fsb and gives me 35s Super pi's every now and then it spits out a 34..
At this point I'm more interested in where the multis went..

MSI for example needs something like alt-f1 then alt space in bios and all kinds of options show up.
Some other boards require some settings to be placed in manual or some other mode to allow OCing.
Wish I had more specifics... |
THe Asus A8V is pretty open with the OC functions..You just need to remember to turn the QnQ off or you can't get to the Vcore or multis period. If QnQ is on you can still get to the FSB and HTT..And there are more Mem timing options than a little bit..All in all it's not a bad board for over clocking..not quite the voltage options of the DFI and such caps at 2.9 Vdimm and I think 1.8ish for Vcore |
