The RRoD is covered my M$ for 3 years, so all 360's since launch are covered by the warranty. Newer models (Pro/Elite) that have the HDMI port should be ok from the RRoD...
Myself, I own a Wii and PS3  I might get a 360 down the road, but I'm pretty happy with my current consoles
